Responsibilities:

• Responsible for prosecuting violations of municipal ordinances, litigating appeals by defendants in District Court, and assisting the Chief Counsel in providing legal advice and services to the Client.
• Duties include: prosecuting Municipal violations of ordinances and codes, corresponding and meeting with victims, witnesses, defense attorneys, and defendants, handle arraignments, trials, sentencing and appeals; providing legal advice to code enforcement, building inspections, and rental licensing and other departments and agencies responsible for enforcing municipal codes and ordinances; participating in meetings, workshops, and roundtables to coordinate and develop strategies for improvement and maintenance of legally mandated standards and codes; serving as a liaison between the Client and neighborhood watch groups; performing legal research; providing legal advice to Police Department and other law enforcement agencies.

Qualifications:  

• Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• License to practice law in Kansas.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Education: 

• Juris Doctorate degree required.

Travel Requirements:  

This position will involve no travel.
