Salary Range: $29.87/hr. - $40.77/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a key professional staff resource to the Administrator. 
  • Carries out the day-to-day operations of the County Administrator’s Office. 
  • Serves as liaison to Commissioners to manage policy proposals, respond to questions, and track and resolve constituent issues on behalf of the County Administrator. 
  • Manages and delegates work to administrative support staff in CAO and Commission office. 
  • Provides support to resolve highly sensitive and complex issues. 
  • Conducts analyses and makes recommendations on a wide range of municipal programs, operations, services and policies. 
  • Performs special research and project assignments including collection, compiling and analyzing complex information from various sources on a variety of topics.
  • Prepares reports which present and interpret data, identify alternatives and assists with policy recommendations. 
  • Assists the Administrator with management of organizational planning and strategies. 
  • Serves as project manager on reviews of various issues or special projects internal to the organization, and special events going on in the community. 
  • Provides assistance and support in preparation of the annual budget. 
  • Assists in preparation of agendas and staff reports for Client's Commission meetings. 
  • Represents the Client at meetings, functions, community events and various governmental, professional and civic organizations. 
  • Tracks policy proposals generated by Commission request or staff recommended in coordination with Strategic Communications, advises the Administrator and Departments on communication and outreach strategies related to policy proposal development and adoption. 
  • Addresses constituent complaints and correspond with the appropriate elected officials and County Administrator regarding the details of the complaint and formulating a resolution. 
  • Provides guidance to departments in interactions with the Board of County Commissioners. 
  • Responds and participates in emergency operations and incident management as directed. 
  • Acts as liaison with various local, state, and national associations. 
  • Must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities. 
  • Will require occasional travel outside County boundaries to attend meetings. 

Qualifications:  

  • At least three years of progressively responsible professional administrative and analytical experience in municipal government. 
  • Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Curious and creative problem-solving leadership approach. 
  • Advanced administration, organization and policy analysis of municipal government. 
  • Methods of research, program analysis, and report preparation. 
  • Knowledge of principles of leadership, supervision, training and performance evaluation. 
  • Perform responsible and difficult administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative. 
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, present conclusions and recommendations, project consequences of proposed actions and implement decisions. 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. 
  • Exercise effective judgment, tact and diplomacy in policy and personnel matters and consider the needs of all interests and effected parties. 

Education: 

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • A Master's in Public Administration or a related field is desirable.
  •  Demonstrated experience may be reviewed to meet educational requirements.
