Responsibilities:
- Performs operation and maintenance of a water supply facility with minimal immediate supervision.
- Participates in the analysis and troubleshooting of the operational problems using available data and follows the proper course of action to meet plant operating objectives.
- May be needed to fill in as a team lead.
- Work requires independent judgment and duties may include the general supervision of plant operations.
- Work is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and the results achieved.
- Work may be physically demanding in hazardous conditions requiring close contact with different chemicals while wearing the appropriate safety equipment.
- Provides preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, and related equipment.
- Collects process samples in accordance with approved protocol.
- Maintains operational database and records.
- Follows safety procedures.
- Monitors and responds to facility SCADA system.
- Performs quality checks and responds to trouble calls.
- Troubleshoots processes and equipment such as chemical feed systems and various level control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Orchestrates a team of operators in plant and across distribution.
- Operate in leadership capacity if shift supervisor is not present.
Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Florida State Drinking Water Plant Operator’s license.
- If assigned to the SCADA work area additional preferences and experience include:
- Record keeping in bound legal logbooks, computer programs, process control, and other duties as required.
- Experience with computerized work order systems and the preparation of work requests for failed equipment, using internal communication equipment.
- Multi-tasking ability is required for situations or emergencies.
- Ability to speak, understand, and follow verbal orders is essential along with the ability to follow written directions or procedures.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent and, one year of water plant experience.
Travel Requirements:
This position will involve no travel.
