Responsibilities:

  • Perform independently complex physical and chemical analysis on a variety of sample types using advanced analytical techniques within an assigned area of work within the laboratory with minimum supervision.
  • Includes performing sample preparation techniques for water and solid matrices.
  • Also included performing quality control functions related to the chemical analysis and review of associated data.
  • Maintains data and prepares reports as required by laboratory standard operating procedures.
  • Operates and performs routine preventive maintenance of Auto Analyzers, GC, GC/MS, ICP,ICPICP, ICP/MS, HPLC and LC/MS/MS.
  • Work is performed with limited direction.
  • Performs sample preparation techniques on complex sample matrices.
  • Reviews data from testing to ensure accuracy, precision and consistency.
  •  Demonstrates the validity of analytical results for new methods or techniques based on established QA principles.
  • Inputs data to the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) manually as well as well as direct data link.
  • Work is physically demanding in hazardous conditions requiring close contact with different chemicals while wearing the appropriate safety equipment.
  • Depending on area of assignment, shall be able to comply with the requirements of the Utilities' Health and Safety Manual

Qualifications:  

  • 4 or more years of work experience in a laboratory or field analytical setting. 
  • ​​​​Preferred candidates experienced using ICP/MS, GC/MS and LC/MS techniques on water and wastewater samples.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Education: 

  • Must have a BA/BS in an Environmental, scientific or technical discipline.

Travel Requirements:  

This position will involve no travel.
