Salary Range: $22.83/hr. - $25.83/hr.  

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing/leading transportation-related operations.
  • Responsible for transporting passengers in a number of transit programs, including designated fixed routes, paratransit trips for persons with disabilities, senior group outings, aging services including Meals on Wheels, nutrition sites, senior medical trips, senior grocery shopping.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to the actual driving of a UG vehicle in a safe manner.
  • The proper transporting of passengers, including those requiring lift equipment or having special needs.
  • Picking up and delivering meals.
  • Data entering and tracking detailed records, including number of passengers, mileage, gasoline data, incident reports and meal counts.
  • Performing radio communications.
  • Noting maintenance issues, fueling vehicles, vehicle inspections and cleaning vehicles.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing vehicles, when needed.
  • Training assigned employees in methods, procedures and techniques of transportation operations.
  • Verifying the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specification.
  • Participation in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring work activities to ensure compliance with established federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Responding to and investigating complaints from the general public regarding operations and resolving problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reviewing operator inspection reports.
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair activities for operations equipment and vehicles.
  • Removing fare box vaults from transit vehicles and preparing revenue for pickup/delivery.
  • Perform other necessary transit operations tasks such as writing reports; reporting mileage; performing radio communications; fueling UG vehicles; tracking meal delivery reports; preparing daily vehicle inspection reports; notating maintenance issues following vehicle inspections before and after shifts in the daily Shift Reports.

Qualifications:  

  • Two years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement or any other endorsements such as Air Brakes if required.
  • Good driving record for the previous three-year period.
  • Liability insurance in at least the minimum amount required by Kansas Law.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
