Responsibilities:

This position requires the applicant to successfully pass a drug screening.

Requires flexible schedule including nights, weekends, early mornings and extended hours.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for managing, supervising, and implementing promotions and marketing activities and programs for the client and its events, including event marketing campaigns, advertising, social media, in-house event development, and sponsorship revenue development. The Marketing Manager assists in providing overall planning, direction, and policies to marketing and box office staff to ensure the highest quality service. This role ensures effective and cost-efficient operations by controlling the division’s operating budget as well as providing highly responsible promotions and marketing staff assistance and management to the Assistant Director.  

This position is an Essential classification and will be required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.

Essential Duties:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws.  
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Keeps the mission, vision, and values of the client at the forefront of decision making and action; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives, maintaining high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Manages and implements promotional campaigns for events and Event Center exposure.
  • Leads brainstorming efforts to produce creative promotions and in-house events.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to increase ticket sales to generate additional event revenue.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with community influencers and partners.
  • Manages and directs grassroots and viral efforts.
  • Plans and conducts market research to identify and secure promotional and event sponsorship revenue.
  • Manages social media platforms, content, and strategies.
  • Builds content calendar and runs special promotions across digital platforms.
  • Creates and manages eblast campaigns and marketing list management.
  • Updates and manages website.
  • Coordinates and places marketing campaigns for a variety of events, including concerts, family events, consumer shows, comedy shows, and institutional programs, as required.
  • Prepares advertising budgets for prospective in-house shows.
  • Prepares invoicing for event settlements.
  • Negotiates best rates and trade agreements with local media outlets.
  • Offers marketing assistance to event planners.
  • Supports Box Office with email communications, group sales collateral, and special offer campaigns as needed.
  • Manages, through support staff, box office activities for tickets sales, on-sales, email communications, sales collateral, and special offer campaigns, as needed.
  • Manages local, regional, and national public relations and marketing campaigns by serving as the key liaison to the Communications Department.
  • Manages marketing campaigns to increase rental events.
  • Manages, develops, and produces press releases, promotional and collateral materials to support event sales and marketing programs.
  • Drives data and analytic results for higher exposure and conversion.
  • Provides reports and analysis on marketing programs.
  • Prepares annual marketing plan and budget.
  • Serves as rotating Manager on Duty.
  • Works flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
 Supervisory Duties:

Qualifications:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of the development of competitive requirements for solicitation of vendors to perform various marketing functions.
  • Knowledge of preparation and presentation of proposals for business meetings or conventions, for tradeshows and special events. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of media buying experience required; understanding of demographics and media rating metrics. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, media, exhibitors, patrons, employees, the public and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Knowledge of venue management processes and procedures, industry terminology, event-related marketing services and requirements for a public event.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Ability to perform effectively under significant pressure typically associated with meeting the demands and timetables of the event industry.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Proficient skill in operating standard office equipment and personal computer(s), including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite,  Photoshop, and InDesign. 
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a similar event facility required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event marketing, advertising, public relations or related field required.
  • Possession of valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record required.

A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
