The Project Team Lead is responsible for managing natural gas construction projects consistent with achieving company objectives in a jurisdictional replacement. Individual will use project management expertise to deliver a group of projects within scope, budget, and schedule. Effectively influences functional stakeholders and manages implementation of projects safely while focused on accomplishing organizational objectives. The Project Team Lead is responsible for managing the life cycle of each project, including support Project Management staff.
Responsibilities:
- Drives execution against assigned construction targets
- Coordinates across functional department to drive delivery
- Manage and direct multiple small, medium, large-scale projects
- Accountable for the delivering yearly Project List(s) (BCAs) within set budget, committed Project Scheduled and Units (scope)
- Responsible with making sure that the project plan and processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle including project closure and meeting yearly performance parameters
- Utilizes strong negotiation skills to influences individual stakeholders to accomplish objectives and deliverables without direct reporting relationships.
- Effectively manages and reports in a timely manner changes in expectations, scope, company risk, schedule, and project and program budgets.
- Works with Analyst(s) to analyze original estimate against project schedule and cost and understand the factors that contributed to any variance
- Assesses program and project variance trends from project estimates to actual data, reports and communicates dashboard result, while coordinating with other departments.
- Evaluate complex situations accurately and identifies viable solutions that create successful outcomes for the Program
- Leads the collection and reporting of Team’s project status, KPIs and other artifacts required to assists with Program’s documentation
- Oversees project schedules, incorporating, monitoring and analyzing input from the project stakeholders (Engineering, Permitting, Construction and External). Manages critical path issues throughout project lifecycle, documenting and reporting the barriers with actionable resolution plans
- Monitor and quality control Team’s project data required to report current status and accurate forecast of Project Spend and Units (Scope) throughout project lifecycle
- Perform Burn-Rate analysis and Forecast on Cost, Schedule, Units and Resources, estimates to completion
- Assists with balancing level of resources ( internal and contractors) required to ensure completion of approved Project List(s)
- Responsible for assuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Manages, coordinates, and monitors work progress of key stakeholders and team resources
- Participate with other departments or teams with planning and making sound recommendations related to schedules/workloads/resource requirements as needed to accomplish project and program objectives
- Develop and mentor direct reports
- Complies with all regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures
- Assures appropriate documents have been secured and retained in a timely fashion to manage company risk
- Represents the Company at external functions relating to projects
- Implements and/or participates on continuous improvement of processes as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- The client is in the Energy and Gas industry.
- The successful candidate must undergo a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screen.
- 7+ Years career experience required.
- 5+ Years project management in utilities or infrastructure construction projects of varying sizes and types required.
- PMP or Business Process Certification required
- Experience in the natural gas industry preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Project/Project management delivery
- Experience in the natural gas or utility industry preferred
- Experienced and proficient with reporting and data analysis tools as related to Project Management (e.g. Work Management Systems, MS Projects, MS Excel, PowerBI or Tableau)
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative to conceptualize, analyze multiple scenarios in solving broadly defined business problems and effectively report results
- Effectively and consistently produce quality project management deliverables i.e. Project Charter, Financial summary
- Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and dependable transportation is required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Finance, Business, Project Management or other quantitative required
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated Negotiation skills.
- Ability to work well and effectively communicate with all levels of Company, Contract personnel and external Stakeholders to facilitate the accomplishment of project work.
- Must be able to process information and make decisions within limited time constraints.
- Requires the ability to read and understand technical documents including legal contracts and information on new management concepts and new technology.
- Must be able to read and understand civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Working knowledge or demonstrated ability to learn industry specific applicable codes, procedures, policies, and regulations required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Able to recognize and evaluate risks, hazards, losses and prevent conflicts between activities.
