Responsibilities:

  • Performs data collection and review of the functions of a water supply facility under supervision of a licensed C, B, or A licensed operator.
  • Participates in the analysis and basic task execution of plant operations using available data (such as SOPs) and follows the proper course of action to meet plant operating objectives.
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated supervisor and is reviewed for accuracy and completeness to ensure compliance during reporting.
  • Work areas may be physically demanding.
  • This makes use of well water and treats it through such processes as forced draft aeration, ozone, oxidation via bleach, pH modifications through both NaOH and CO2, and also adds fluoride.
  • Assists preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, and related equipment.
  • Collects, process samples in accordance with approved protocol.
  • Retrieves input for operational database and records.
  • Follows safety procedures.
  • Monitors and responds to facility SCADA system.
  • Assists with quality checks and regular business day trouble calls.
  • Provides basic troubleshooting of processes and equipment such as chemical feed systems and various level control systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Depending on area of assignment, shall be able to comply with the requirements of the Utilities' Health and Safety Manual.

Qualifications:  

  • 1 year of water plant experience.
  • Possess a valid Florida State Drinking Water Plant Operator’s license, C or B.
  • If assigned to the SCADA work area additional preferences and experience include:
    • Record keeping in bound legal logbooks, computer programs, process control, and other duties as required.
    • Experience with computerized work order systems and the preparation of work requests for failed equipment, using internal communication equipment.
    • Multi-tasking ability is required for situations or emergencies.
    • Ability to speak, understand, and follow verbal orders is essential along with the ability to follow written directions or procedures.
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Travel Requirements:  

This position will involve no travel.
